Packaging: your materials and per-product rules

What your orders get packed with, and how to tell the warehouse which box to use for each product. It's what your customer sees when they open the parcel.

Packaging is the first thing your buyer touches. With Furgox you can send us yours — branded boxes, filler paper, cards — and decide what each product ships in, so it doesn't depend on the judgement of whoever picks the order that day.

Your packing material

The Packaging section works like the warehouse, but for material you don't sell: boxes, mailers, paper, tape. You see how much is left of each and can set a threshold so we email you before you hit zero.

Packaging material list with stock levels

Running out of your packaging doesn't stop your orders, but it does leave us packing with generic material. The low-packaging alert exists precisely to avoid that.

How you send it to us

Same as products: by creating an inbound, but choosing Packaging in the first step. Each material is registered with its name and size, and gets its own SKU (PKG-XXXXXXXX).

→ How to create an inbound

Don't mix packaging and products in the same inbound: they're tracked differently, because one is sold and the other is consumed.

Rules: which box each product uses

Under Packaging → Normas (Rules) you assign each product the packaging it should ship in. Only products physically in the warehouse appear, since they're the only ones that can be picked.

A product can use several

You can assign more than one material to the same product: the box and the filler paper, for example. The warehouse will use every one assigned.

If you assign nothing

The product ships in the bag of whichever carrier takes it, at no cost. Nothing breaks, but you lose the branding. Covered in detail in If you don't have your own packaging.

How to approach it without going mad

  1. Start with your bestsellers: four or five references usually cover most of your shipments.

  2. Assign by size, not by product: if three t-shirts go in the same box, the rule is the same for all three.

  3. Leave the odd ones for last: fragile, oversized, or anything with its own box.

  4. Revisit it when you change box supplier or launch a new line.

FAQ

Is packaging billed?

The material is yours: you send it and we store it. What's billed is the storage it takes up and, on every order shipped in your packaging, a €0.20 handling fee that appears in the order's logistics cost under the “Packaging” line. With the carrier's standard bag that charge doesn't exist.

Can I include a card or a gift in every order?

Yes: send it to us as packaging and assign it as a rule to the products you want. If it's a one-off — a campaign, a specific month — tell us via chat.

What if I run out of my packaging mid-campaign?

We keep shipping with standard material so your orders don't stop, and we let you know. That's why the threshold is worth setting.

Can I use the same packaging across several stores?

Yes. The material belongs to your account, not to a specific store, so it serves orders from all of them.
